The company was founded by Jean Lafleur in 2002 following a change in the Quebec Supplemental Pension Plans Act which greatly simplified the setup and ongoing administration of pension plans for business owners.

Since 2002, more than 950 clients have used the services of J. Lafleur Consultants Inc. The company grew in 2019 when Jessica Lafleur, Jean's daughter, joined the company.

Jean Lafleur

Consultant and Founder

Jean Lafleur studied at Laval University and is a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. He founded J. Lafleur Consultants Inc. in 2002 following the change in the Quebec Supplemental Pension Plans Act.

From 1989 to 2002, he was the actuary for the Canadian National Railway (CN) where he was responsible for pension and benefit plans.

​

He currently sits on the Canadian expert forum for the Registered Pension Plans Directorate of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and is a member of the IPP sub-committee.

Jessica Lafleur

Consultant

Jessica Lafleur joined J. Lafleur Consultants Inc. in 2019. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in actuarial science with a minor in finance from Concordia University in 2011. She then obtained her title of Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 2012 and her title of Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries in 2013. After obtaining her bachelor's degree, she worked for more than 8 years for a consulting firm as a pension plan consultant for medium to large companies.

Since she joined J. Lafleur Consultants Inc. in 2019, Jessica has worked closely with Jean to respond to clients’ requests and questions. She is also working on the modernization of the company, because she is committed to its sustainability and eventually wishes to take over the family business.
